Bedford Hospital X-ray Department Welcomes the New Camargue HQ General Radiography Equipment from MedImaging Ltd  Bedford Hospital NHS Trust has been providing excellent healthcare services to people living in and around Bedford for over 200 years. They are proud of their history and heritage but are also keen to embrace changes that will be of benefit to both staff and patients. With this in mind a new plain X-ray room in the main department opened fully in December 2008 offering general computerised radiography for both in-patients and out-patients. As well as providing the latest in General X-ray equipment for use with CR, Med Imaging provided a full turnkey solution for the rebuild of both the general radiography and the dental X-ray rooms. This also included the relocation of equipment to another room and the loan of the latest Flat Panel OPG system in order to ensure that Bedford Hospital had continuity of service during the build period. This latest arrangement of the Camargue HQ is the first to incorporate a patient hoist into the main overhead rails and so eliminate the need to find storage for conventional floor standing hoists. This arrangement also provides more comfortable and easier access for both patient and operator when transferring patients from say wheelchairs and helps to further reduce manual handling by the operator.Proud to be a core department of Bedford Hospital NHS Trust they offer a wide range of examinations (scans and X-rays) for both NHS and private patients.  Thank you to Carole Darnell (Radiology Manager) for the kind commentsJust wanted to say thanks for the applications training on Wednesday, all going great. We are really impressed here at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust with the Room 1 project which has been almost seamless from the 1st stage to the last and I personally did appreciate you stepping in at very short notice to re-install the dental equipment when we had problems and also the flexibility shown in accommodating our little needs (hoist and chest stand).

State of the Art Direct Digital Equipment

for Benenden Hospital
Patients at Benenden Hospital are set to benefit from some of the latest X-ray equipment on the market. The hospital has just installed state of the art digital machinery which transforms X-rays into images and enables the consultant to view the image within five seconds of it being taken. It also significantly reduces the amount of radiation emitted. The X-ray equipment can be configured in many ways enabling technicians to use it for a wide range of applications and its single touch-screen console speeds up the process considerably, meaning that more patients can be treated. “The new equipment will transform the way the X-ray department works and will be especially useful for orthopaedics,’ said Imaging Manager Jeremy Harrington. “There are no plates or films involved so, for example, a patient with osteoarthritis can have their joint X-rayed and within four seconds the image will be sent to the consultant who will be able to discuss treatment there and then. This will be fantastic for patients as it will be a much quicker process and could reduce the need for return visits.”  Set in the Kent countryside between Cranbrook and Tenterden, Benenden Hospital has been cited as a ‘shining example’ by the President of the Royal College of Surgeons and has an excellent record for infection prevention and control. It is currently undergoing a programme of investment in equipment and services and treats members of the Benenden Healthcare Society, private patients and NHS patients under the Free Choice scheme in which people can choose where to be treated.
