In February 2009, we successfully installed an Instrumentarium Digital OC200D with SmartPad in to Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, a well respected centre for specialist oral health, research and education within Central Scotland and the West.
The Digital Orthopantomograph with Cephalostat offers excellent image quality with rapid digital imaging allowing increased patient throughput. Compact design, accurate and stable patient positioning allows all ranges of patients to be imaged including paediatric and wheelchair patients. The SMARTNAV software's with SMARTPAD offer a full colour high resolution touch screen providing an easy selection of imaging programs and an easy to read menu. An animated patient positioning guide provides animations specific to each imaging program to ensure proper patient positioning.
The OC200D offers a built in dose meter to calculate the dose amount after each exposure and stores the information within Cliniview, including exposure values on the DICOM header for transfer to PACS. A number of programs are available to reduce the radiation dose to the patient including the paediatric program, this reduces the horizontal and vertical field and incorporates a specifically designed image layer geometry and limiting the exposure time. Paediatric collimation can be utilised in all panoramic programmes minimising radiation dose. If a full panoramic image is not required, 1 to 5 segments of the horizontal image can be selected to expose only regions of diagnostic interest.
The Cephalostat program offers a fully adjustable lateral scan and depending on the patient size the patient dose can be reduced by 48 -62%. The scanning time can be reduced to as little as 5 seconds, reducing the radiation dose considerably. An Automatic Facial Contour is used for soft tissue enhancement in lateral views and automatically adjusts the exposure values for better soft tissue definition.
Cliniview digital imaging software provides versatile tools which provides the user with a number of additional tools, including measuring and facility to print images.
Instrumentarium are a proven leader of panoramic imaging with over 40 years of experience of dental panoramic imaging with consistent reliability and clinically excellent maxillofacial imaging.
